Which Range Rover Sport does Edmunds recommend? But overall the Range Rover Sport's strong performance and appealing style make it worth checking out. There's also a fair amount of overlap within Land Rover's lineup, so cross-shopping the slightly smaller Velar, the three-row Discovery or even the new Defender could be a wise idea as well. Among this group the Range Rover Sport comes up a little short on polish - especially in terms of in-car technology features. Rivals include the Audi Q8, BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE and Porsche Cayenne. The Range Rover Sport competes in a competitive class. And being a Land Rover, the Range Rover Sport has respectable off-road capability, too. A 355-horsepower six-cylinder engine is standard, but there's also an available diesel engine, a plug-in hybrid powertrain and a top-dog supercharged V8 with a thumping 516 hp. ![]() So what do you get by going with the Sport?
